Ingredients
  

  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 3 whole fresh jalapenos, seeded and diced
  • 0.5 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp cold water

Method
 

  1. Mix the Filling: Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a bowl, thoroughly mix the softened cream cheese, cheddar, diced jalapenos, bacon, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth.
  2. Layer the Pastry: Unroll one sheet of thawed puff pastry. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the top. Lay the second pastry sheet directly over the filling and press gently to seal.
  3. Cut and Twist: Using a pizza cutter, slice the filled pastry into 1-inch wide strips. Pick up each strip and twist it 3 to 4 times.
  4. Egg Wash: Place the twisted strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Whisk the egg and water together, then lightly brush the mixture over the top of the twists.
  5. Bake: Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until the pastry is puffed and deeply golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

  • If the dough gets too sticky to twist, chill it in the fridge for 10 minutes before continuing.
  • Keep the jalapeno seeds in the mixture if you prefer a much spicier snack.
